Course Overview
On many traditional report cards, students receive one grade for reading, one for math, one for science and so on. On a standards-aligned report card, each of these subject areas is divided into a list of skills and knowledge students are responsible for learning. Students receive a separate grade for their performance on items/tasks that assess all skills/learning targets associated with a prioritized standard.
Goals of standards aligned report cards are to clarify and reinforce consistent, high expectations for all students and schools; help teachers, students, and families focus on the standards throughout the school year, and provide specific accurate and consistent feedback on progress regarding standards so students, families, and teachers can work together to set meaningful goals for improvement.
